I have been enjoying a new/old podcast: the podcast is the Ottoman Histories podcast which I have subscribed to for a time now, and the specific series is a lecture course on Islamic history. It has some problems: South Asian Islamic history barely gets a look-in, leave alone South-East Asian Islam and history; Central Asia gets short shrift, certainly its eastern sides; even Iran is largely discussed in relation to what the series takes as its centre. And I think the series ends with colonialism, as seems to happen all too often: Islamic history comes to an end, other than a brief mention of the rise of Wahhabism, though I am not quite finished with it. I am really enjoying it, though, and particularly the episode on West Africa. I would like to go there, I must say.
